This month we sit down with Tamara Ward from Smith St. Hair and Body to find out more about her journey in the industry and how she has pivoted this year to bring her business online.
Tell us about your journey so far in the salon industry?
I fell into the industry by chance and signed my apprenticeship papers straight after HSC. I have now had the salon for six years! I remember walking into the open sunlit space and I fell in love with it immediately. It’s been an interesting journey purchasing a salon in an area you’ve just moved to with 2 young kids but still, six years on, I walk into the salon with the awe I did on the first day.
I am currently searching for another amazing stylist to join me in the salon. I have a beauty therapist on-site and we coordinate appointments to help give a full experience to our clients.
We have a beautiful clientele that has been so supportive over the last 6 years and especially throughout the uncertainty of the last 18 months. Keeping in touch with them has been important for us and also our customer's wellbeing.
How long have you been using CPR Colour and haircare?
I started using CPR in 2016! I understand the importance of salon-quality colours and products, while also supporting Australian owned and made.
I was super excited when my salon was the venue for CPR education throughout 2018-19. Education has definitely adapted to current times and I’m enjoying the flexibility of online learning right now.
I am extremely thankful for Cass and CPR team throughout this year's lockdown. Cass has been so supportive and initiated the move to e-commerce, transitioning to online sales and social media marketing. He never stops in his research, training, encouragement and product support.
The online training that’s been available to us through this time has been important in keeping us connected as a community while learning and moving forward in our ever-changing industry.
And lastly, what is your favourite CPR product?
My favourite CPR product has to be Fortify Healing Serum. It’s honest in what it does for the hair but my hands feel cared for also! I love the colour range and am always confident in its results especially with the option of pre, during and post colour support within the CPR brand.
